May humanity be happy on this day when we turn and bow before what has given us birth, honoring our Source in the form of our blessed mothers. May we see the interconnectedness of all beings pouring from the Womb of compassion.
May we develop the vision of compassion and the touch of tenderness and the wisdom of patience. May our dwelling be in the Mother of the Cities, which is the conscious universal community of creation. May our understanding come from the Mother of the Book, which is the source of all revelations.
May our constant awareness be with the Most Motherly, Most Merciful, Most Loving Cherisher of our being.
And may our life breaths be spent in the service and way of the most tender and compassionate humanity, the beloved Muhammad, root of creation. O Allah, please shower him in Your loving peace, and shower his noble family, companions, and universal community in Your loving peace. May blessings pour this day and everyday upon the mothers and those with hearts of the mothers.

:: Above is the dispatch from Shaykha Fariha al-Jerrahi for the dervishes, female and male, alike, for Mothers Day. May not just a single day, but all our days become Mother's day, become a day when we reflect back tender love and compassion to our mothers.
We have enjoined on humanity kindness to parents ... such are they from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds and pass by their mistakes: (They shall be) among the Companions of the Blissful Garden: a promise! of truth, which was made to them. (The Quran 46:15,16)

At the age of 19 she began a conscious search for God. Ten years later she met her teacher, Shaykh Muzaffer Ozak of Istanbul. At the passing of the Master, she became the disciple of Lex Hixon, by this time called Shaykh Nur al-Jerrahi.
Shaykh Muzaffer came to the West to meet Nur and to plant the seeds of Sufism in the hearts of the American lovers. From this transmission Nur envisioned a radical and illumined path of the heart which he called Universal Islam. When Shaykh Nur passed in 1995, Fariha took on the role of guiding the Nur Ashki Jerrahi Sufi Order. Through this lineage, she and her representatives offer the nectar of teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, which guide the seeker to self-knowledge and immersion in God. The sacred practices of zikr, prayer, charitable living, fasting and retreat are all embraced.
Every Thursday, Fariha with her husband Ali and the dervishes invite all seekers into the circle of zikr (remembrance of Divine) at the Masjid al-Farah in New York City.
