Al-Batin
. The Hidden
. The Secret One
. The Inner One
. The Knower of Hidden Things
. The One who is veiled from our sensory perception. The One who is unseen, yet whose existence and essence are made known through signs.
. The One who knows the inner states, inner circumstances and inner thoughts of all of creation.
. The One who enters unseen into all of creation. The One who is concealed within all of creation. The One who is the secret inner companion.
God created pain and sorrow
that happiness might show itself by contrast.
For hidden things are made manifest
by means of their opposites:
since God has no opposite, He is hidden.
- Rumi's Mathnawi 1:1130-1, tr. Helminski (credit)
All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifieth Allah;
and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
His is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; He
quickeneth and He giveth death; and He has power over all things.
He is the First and the Last,
and the Manifest and the Hidden;
and He is Knower of all things.
- The Quran 57, 1-3. transliteration.
