of Mystery...
Part of the role of visionaries and mystics is to be a clear conduit for the particular ray of consciousness that wants to emerge through them, "stepping down" that vision into the world of manifestation. To open ourselves to a direct relationship with the Divine Mystery takes great courage, humility, perseverance, surrender, and above all, a willingness to be continually dismantled, purified and transformed in the fires of the Beloved.
This is the Alchemy of Creation...
I remember when the shadowy, challenging vision of GATEWAYS OF THE DIVINE began to come through me, nearly 18 years ago. I was living in New York City at the time, working in photography and film, and suddenly became overwhelmed by a shamanic descent into the unconscious - anxiety attacks, nightmares, bodily flashes. New York City is not the best environment for this kind of psychic dismemberment! In a desperate attempt to honor and contain the imaginal flood that was engulfing me, I began to gather images and words from all sorts of printed media, and spontaneously began to make collages on 4x6 inch cards. Titles like "Fires of Maya," "Disaster Opportunities," and "Back to the Rivers of Belief" began to whisper
their dark and shining wisdom to me, a slender thread to guide me through the abyss.
This healing process of psychic immersion and renewal through collage-making continued off and on for about five years, before I received the guidance which led me to publish GATEWAYS OF THE DIVINE in the 7lb. manuscript form that exists today. Believe me, that vision didn't come fully formed, not did God send me a prospectus for how this project should unfold! It took another five years of listening to those intuitive flashes, the countless small voices of instruction, the magical synchronicities ... and let's not forget the doubts, the fears, the delays, the necessary detours that were an essential part of the process.
If God had sent me a prospectus for the ten-year journey of bringing the Gateways to the world, I would have declared, "Not me! Find someone else to do this. It's more than I can handle." More times than not, this co-creative process was a fierce undoing, at others a blaze of creative fire, and always, always, at a pace that was much slower than I would have preferred. Over the years I began to learn that being a midwife for primordial forces requires me to listen to and to follow a more intuitive, feminine rhythm. It takes great courage and dedication to stay the course in this kind of alchemical gestation, especially in our world that values the fast and the flashy.
I now see the wisdom of the Divine's revelation,
unfolding step-by-baby step.
Only then can we grow
into our true capacity as human beings,
and sing out the note of our soul's expression
in service to others.
I share this story with all of you because sometimes we feel a glimmer of creation wanting to come through us, but since we don't know the particulars of the journey, or the destination, we can be fearful of committing ourselves fully in bringing that vision forth. Perhaps we have made a space for our vision to come through, but are unsure about the next steps in its manifestation, or how to reach the people we are here to serve.
For nearly seven years I have had the profound honor of being a creative and spiritual midwife for others, in THE ALCHEMY OF CREATION coaching work, as a Creative Director and consultant for spiritually-based organizations, and now in my work with clients for MYSTIC ALCHEMY DESIGN. The sensitivity, presence, and keen listening that has been cultivated in my own work as an artist is now dedicated to helping others to connect to their vision, following the subtle guidance of the Mystery in the sacred container of each session. It is always a miraculous journey to be present with others in their unfolding, engaging with them in the alchemical dance of their unique expression. I am continually astonished at the unseen support that is ever at the ready to guide each stage of Creation.
Having a guide can be an amazing support, and facilitate the process of evolution with greater ease, fluidity, and a connection to vaster forces of Creation.
It's a magical, joyful process! People often ask me if I have a certain approach to THE ALCHEMY OF CREATION coaching work, a set of tools or exercises that I take each client through. The way I am guided to work is as unique as each person I encounter; each session is a dive into the Unknown, an exploration of what is present within the soul, and what is emerging into form.I do have a number of "alchemical tools" that I use whenever guided: poetic invocation, sacred conversation, automatic writing, body awareness and energetic sensing, movement, and image-making.
The most important element in THE ALCHEMY OF CREATION is for me to embody a spacious presence that welcomes a full, compassionate embrace of Self, allowing the expanded voice of consciousness to guide your evolution. This presence is the alchemical crucible that contains, catalyzes, corrupts and quickens; this presence is the womb which, in its time, will bear one's gifts to the world.
What does it take to enter THE ALCHEMY OF CREATION?
A willingness to say YES - to birthing your unique vision,
to be open to the Mystery's continual forging, and to summon
a steadfast courage to do whatever work is required,
inner and outer, until the process of Creation is complete.
The world needs the gifts that only you can bring.
