Syed Tajuddin Baba was born in real ‘Syed’ Family. His linage has been traced to Holy Prophet Mohammad, peace. The master lost his parents at an early age and was boarding in a local Madarassa near Nagpur when, he came in contact with a sufi spiritual Sheik Hazrat Abdulla Shah, who immediately recognized the spiritual potential in the child and initiated him to the path, by giving him a dry fruit to eat. Baba was given the instruction to "Eat less, sleep less and speak less. Read Quran”. This was the turning point in Tajuddin’s life. He later severed in the Brithish Army a soilder as he had to support his uncles family during there economic crises.
Once his regiment was posted to Sagar, Baba spent most of his time with another sufi Hazrat Baud Saheb. With more and more time being spent with Hazrat Baud Saheb, his official work suffered and ultimately he tendered resignation to become free of worldly ties. After his master passed away he spent most of his time near his grave meditating most of the time in a day.
Later in his spiritual intoxication Tajuddin Baba appeared and behaved mad to the worldly people, who got him locked up in the Mental Asylum in Nagpur. Hazrat Tajuddin Baba's glory spread from the Nagpur Asylum as he was often seen inside & outside the Asylum in Nagpur and at various places in Nagpur. The locked steel door could not confine this Friend of Allah. He was pure consciousness, unbounded by space and time. (It is said Space and Time appear within consciousness). Thousands and thousands miracles have been attributed to the grand Master. Tajuddin Baba has contributed immensely for the growth of Islam by attracting many new voluntary converts.

Babajan, who's birthname was Gool Rukh ("like a rose"), was born as a Pathan princess in a royal Muslim family of Afghanistan. Well-educated, she memorized the entire Koran by heart, becoming a Hafiz-e-Koran at an early age. At the age of 18 she fled her home as she was interested in God and not a married householder. She wandered in the forests of Punjab where she was guided by sufis and hindu Saints.
It is reported that she proclaimed ANAL HAQ (I am the truth) and hence was buried alive. However, by God’s grace she escaped Afghanistan to permanently settle in India.
She is known to have performed innumerable miracles. She has given sight to the blind, healed the sick and helped many people in worldly and spiritual matters. Babajan’s Tomb is in Pune (India) and is place where one can expect a rain of mercy.
- graciously compiled for Inspirations and Creative Thoughts by Gautham Rao from Canada. may God bless him. May God sanctify the states of all illuminated souls and elevate their stations.
