Currently reading the Indian Sacred Holy Book, Upanishad. Just before starting it, I was studying some sufi literature of Mevlavi Jalaluddin Rumi and others. What moved me was the extremely close spiritual closeness of Sufi Spiritual interpretation about Theology and that of Upanishad.
The sufi Idea about God, the Supreme Soul and the idea of Brahma (Supreme Soul) in Upanishad is actually same. I bought the whole Upanishad from Aziz Super market. Its in Bangla and it is turning out to be very useful to appreciate the basic monotheistic stand of Hinduism. The real Hindu religion was never polytheist, but it was pure Monotheist. And to be honest, it is more than Monotheistic. The very secret knowledge of the nature of God, the Supreme Soul is well expressed in Upanishad. I love the language used in translation into Bangla. It is very powerful and spirtually rich.
The Marefat or Inner teachings of Sufi have great resemble with Upanishads own philosophy and theosophy. Reading Upanishad is greatly inspiring me to research on it and write something in order to bridge the gap between Islamic montheism, Sufi philosophy and Vedant Hindu philosophy.
To get an idea on Upanishad, this link from Wikipedia can be a good starting point:
