fattaqu-Llaha mas-tata'tum,

Therefore, be conscious of God to the best of your ability,
and listen,
and obey,
and spend for the good of your own selves;
and whoever attain freedom from the self's stinginess,
they are the successful ones.
- The Divine Recital, The Chapter of Mutual Blaming (al-Taghaabun), 64:16
:: an extended reading, incorporating the many layers of meanings:
Therefore, guard yourself for God, be aware of God, have reverence for God, be conscious of The Presence - to the best of your given ability, to the best of your attained ability in the moment. And listen to those who are to be listened to - the heir of the truthful ones, listen to your heart, listen to the hushed language. And obey those who are in the way-station to be guide, obey not your own whims, obey not the voice of your nafs alone; learn to obey God from the ones who have obeyed sincerely and thus have arrived. And spend in charity, then go further and spend of your own self; first spend from what you are given and finally spend and give yourself wholly - that is the gift of ultimate goodness to your original face. Those who are free from greed and covetousness of their own selves, anyone who is protected from his self's stinginess, they are the ones abiding in the divine focus.
If you want to know who shall be the successful ones, the ones who shall attain true beatitude, then go back and contemplate, and contemplate again what is revealed.
:: words of purity from Shams and Rumi,
may their soul be luminous with Nur
This is love: to fly toward a secret sky,
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First, to let go of life.
In the end, to take a step without feet;
to regard this world as invisible,
and to disregard what appears to be the self.
Heart, I said, what a gift it has been
to enter this circle of lovers,
to see beyond seeing itself,
to reach and feel within the breast.
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First, to let go of life.
In the end, to take a step without feet;
to regard this world as invisible,
and to disregard what appears to be the self.
Heart, I said, what a gift it has been
to enter this circle of lovers,
to see beyond seeing itself,
to reach and feel within the breast.
