Shaykh Najmuddin Kubra (1145 - 1220) was known as Qutub or the ‘Spiritual Pole of the Age’ and one of the greatest sufis of all time. He was also known as the Saint maker because of the prominence and spiritual attainment of his students. He was the founder of the Kubrawi Tariqah. His close associates included great mystics like Sheikh Saadi of Shiraz (1184-1291) and Sheikh Shahabudin Suhrawardi (1145-1235) the founder of Suhrawardi School. The Shaykh is remembered as a pioneer of the Sufi tradition and for his profound explanation of spiritual visionary experiences.
Among his works Adab al-suluk ila Hadrat Malik al-Muluk (Etiquette of the Wayfarer in Journeying to the Lord of Kingdom) provides a concise guideline for wayfarers of the Sufi Path on the subject of Spiritual Wayfaring that reach one to God. It is a Classic Sufi text and an important one to understand the fabric of reality, various interpenetrating stages of the journey and the outward and inwards rules. There is an English translation of part of this treatise made by Ali Baqirshahi and now available in public domain. The full text in English can be access here.
