every person we meet is a teacher, when we meet with the right intention and right attitude. every one can be a mouthpiece of the One Teacher Who only exists, Who only speaks.
so i asked my new friend, "kindly tell me the names of your favorite books."
and came the reply so full of wisdom: "The greatest, most profound and enchanting book you will ever read in your entire life ... is your own beautiful heart. Truly."
i felt the spirit of Bodhidharma arriving like pure breeze through what he spoke hundreds years back carrying and transmitting the timeless wisdom of Buddha:
direct pointing to the human heart;
seeing the nature and become Buddha;
not standing on letters;
a separate transmission outside the scripture.
indeed how fortunate we are to have open access to the holy temple of our heart where resides the key to all gnosis. only when we turn to that and read the infinite source of wisdom and inspiration, it surely makes reading all other limited earthly books unworthy.seeing the nature and become Buddha;
not standing on letters;
a separate transmission outside the scripture.
like the wandering darvish Shams Tabrizi, may God be pleased with the beloved sun of gnosis, who drowned the book in the fountain that Rumi carried so dearly to turn Rumi to his heart. Rumi's heart until that time was waiting to be read. anyone who reads Rumi what Rumi became after that, can witness the field of possibility of alchemical transformation that can happen when we come face to face to thousand suns hidden in our breast.
the heart in each one of us are also waiting ever so patiently to be read like a celestial book. may we all one day come to realize what treasure we all carry inside and become a witness to that by being able to read it. amen.
