in the eye of sufi mystics, Jesus is one of the highest mystic of elevated station, the seal of sainthood, embodiment that mirrors divine perfection in human manifestation. Jesus is the Qutub, the Pole that centers the divine attributes on earthly plane; the Murshid, the great teacher of humanity; the embodiment of universal man (Insan Kamil) beholding the Spirit of God or avatar of God, perfect khalifatullah (vicegerent of God on earth).
Muslims don't call Jesus "God" because it ascribe limitation and form upon Divinity and God is beyond forms and limitations, God is beyond the idea of beyond, Allahu Akbar. rather muslims prefer to call Jesus a blessed messenger, a profound sign of God's Majesty, Jesus is like Adam who was created without a father.
Islam doesn't limit the divine attribute exclusively to Jesus Christ, but affirm that the potential of reflecting and perfecting divine attributes within, is open to all of mankind (similar what Buddha said, the potential to become a Buddha, enlightened one, awakened one is inside all). likewise "the only begotten son of God" is considered an erroneous doctrine (introduced much later by the doctors of religion / church) because according to the Old Testament and in the very words of Jesus Christ, all of humanity are children of God and thus all are God's mirror just as primordial human form, Adam was made in the image of God. Islam makes clear that there is no place of "only begotten" exclusiveness; and there are overwhelming evidences in the Bible that 'the only begotten son' doctrine indeed was NOT part of Christ's original teaching.

Those who opposed Jesus argued with him in the Temple of Jerusalem as mentioned in John 10:33-34: "For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; because thou, being a man, maketh thyself God."
Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, Ye are gods?"
and indeed in the Old Testament, it is written in number of places what Jesus was pointing to:
Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. (Psalms 82:6)
and the Scriptures titled son to many earlier enlightened beings, prophets and messengers, sonship is not literal or exclusive:
You are children of the Lord, your God. (Deuteronomy 14:1)
