And every one has a direction to which he should turn...
~ The Qur'an, the Final Testament, 2:148
If our life is liked with a ship in an ocean, if the ship doesn't know where its heading, where its destination port is, that is to say, if it doesn't have a purpose; it will be left in the sea aimlessly going here and there tossed by the waves. Unfortunately most of us live our life like that. Even religious people will focus narrowly on some religious rituals, carry out what they were taught by their culture and unlive there lives almost like sleep walking. Without a discovered purpose from within, we all are like that ship moving aimlessly in the ocean.
As the Qur'an reminds that every one has a direction to which he, she should orient, turn, go towards. This unique being that we are, each needs to discover their purpose. But how?
I found a number of very helpful place to start where contemporary life coaches and teachers have shared how they have arrived at those formula and shared their wisdom. Thanks to technology, particularly YouTube, such wisdoms are easy to share. So here are some of my picks that I bumped into.
TAKE AWAY POINTS:
The process of finding your life's purpose involves 3 questions and answering them from as deep within as possible (and its never late to discover it):
1. What are two qualities that I most enjoy expressing in life?
2. What are two ways I most love or enjoy expressing those qualities when interacting with others?
3. What would the world look like if it were perfect, according to me? What would be people doing, how would people be interacting, what would be happening?
Once you can answer those three questions, and take your time to do that, you can put them in a single sentence. That is your life purpose statement and you can take it from there.
You then can act and take action that is aligned towards that purpose and you can start changing or eliminate anything that is consuming your energy, time and life that are direct in conflict towards that purpose.
If you are aware of any other resources that can help others, feel free to leave them in the comment and I can add them to this list.
